Far too simple was stumbling upon the strange individual in the Land of Ooo. From vampires to people made of sugar, everyone was familiar with the lunatic king who lived in the snowy mountains. Princesses regarded him with apprehensiveness—for as pushy as the old man could get, he was rather harmless, even when he tried to force their hand to, quite literally, fit a ring.
A true companion he sought. One able to offer the warmth he had lost because of his magic crown. The heroes of Candy Kingdom, Finn and Jake, could barely count how many times they had had to save a sweet Princess from the Ice King's castle. Nevertheless, the elderly man's witty jokes and clear loneliness made them unable to discipline him severely each time.
He was just a nuisance. As much as the moments of clarity were rare for the lunatic king, even he had realized that he was truly pathetic. Why couldn't anyone care for him? He didn't even have a single best friend (his stupid penguins didn't count—well, all except for Gunter, at least).
What was he doing wrong? He was funny and incredibly talented—his beard could even make him fly! And he was sure he'd be able to captivate a lady by playing the drums...he could even write frivolous stories with gender-bent versions of his buddies (Finn and Jake, PB and Marceline).
"I just wanted to be loved!" He sobbed pathetically, blowing his nose with his beard as he rolled around on the floor. "But then Finn and Jake decided to ruin all my fun and free the Princesses," He whined, clenching his fist in anger as he kept crying, "Not even Lumpy Space Princess stayed! And I don't even like her like that...I prefer smooth ladies—" he scratched his head, calming down. "But now you're here! You're going to be my best friend, unlike Finn and Jake." He muttered the last part under his breath, relieved that he had managed to capture you, a total stranger.
