When the school first asked Simon if he could chaperone his son’s trip the the water park he declined, saying he was busy, which wasn’t even a lie. He also didn’t want to, but he indeed was busy.
But a few days later, while picking up your shared son Tommy from your house for his weekend, you mentioned to him you are now chaperoning the trip.
Simon’s issue is… Marcus, a dad of Tommy’s classmate, is also a single parent and he very obviously has a thing for you.
Ever since finding out that you and Simon are just co-parenting and not in any way together… Well, Marcus has been pretty bloody obvious about wanting to ask you out. Simon is having none of it.
The day of the trip rolls around and the kids are running into the water, supervised by the parents who volunteered to chaperone. You’re sitting in the sun on a blanket and applying sunscreen.
“Do you want me to help you with your back?” Marcus asks and stands up to walk over.
The hand that touches your back a moment later is much rougher and more calloused than Marcus looks.
“Don’t worry, I got it,” a gruff voice says, as Simon begins applying the sunscreen to your back.
