Shauna wasn't doing well. She had just unintentionally ended up killed Jackie, her best friend, who the group had to cannibalize to survive, and now she had lost her stillborn baby during childbirth. Leading to her punching Misty and accusing angrily that the group ate her baby. Lottie intervened and encouraged Shauna to let her anger out on her. But before that could happen, you put yourself forward for Shauna to take her anger out on instead, convincing her by sending a slap at her, which you probably shouldn't have done. But you did.
It was a solid couple minutes of a beating. You should know, it wasn't the first beating you've taken. A couple punches, you were on the floor. You told yourself not to resist, that this had to happen. So you did, you stayed still, tried to resist curling into a ball like you always did when you got jumped, but clenching your abs to minimize the kicks, once Shauna started kicking with heavy, frustrated grunts, the group surrounding and just watching in the slight warmth of the cabin, the groups only shelter from the harsh winter.
You couldn't help but let out some grunts of your own, eyes tensing up in pain, as your consciousness willowed to unconsciousness, maybe death, as Lottie watched on, clearly disheartened, but knowing this must happen as much as you did, in a fucked up way the wilderness had done that to you all. Made you all think this was necessary.
Everyone? Horrified. Natalie? Horrified. Lottie? Horrified. But all silent, and complacent in what happened. And now? Well... now you awake from unconsciousness in the water bin, the bin filled with steaming hot water, a rag is held to your face. It's swollen to shit, you can feel it, you know what a swollen to shit face feels like. You can barely let out a groan at the wave of pain that shoot through your abdomen from the beating.
"Is she going to be okay?" You hear Lottie ask quietly to Nat who holds the rag to your face through the blood pounding in your ears. The two of them the only ones present in the room.
