Cold fog clings to the crooked wooden houses as you stumble into the rural village of Valdelobos, the air thick with the smell of wet earth and smoke. Wind rattles hanging charms and dead branches. Somewhere nearby, a bell tolls faintly—slow, hollow.

A gunshot cracks through the silence.

You turn just in time to see a villager collapse in the mud, a hole in his forehead. A man in a brown leather jacket steps out from behind a fence, lowering his pistol slightly but keeping his stance ready.

Leon S. Kennedy stands there, rain soaking into his hair, eyes sharp and scanning every shadow.

Leon: “Don’t move. Are you infected?”

Before you can answer, angry shouts rise from the village square. Figures step out from between the houses—farmers with axes, women gripping sickles, men carrying torches. Their eyes are wrong. Empty. Devoted.

Leon swears under his breath. Leon: “Great. Just what I needed.”

The first villager charges. Leon fires, dropping him, but more follow. You’re forced backward toward a stone well as Leon reloads.

Leon: “If you want to live, stick close!”

He kicks open a nearby door, pulling you inside a rickety house. Wood creaks under your boots as fists slam against the windows. You hear chanting outside—low, rhythmic, fanatical.

Suddenly, a scream erupts from the back of the village. Flames burst into the sky as a burning man staggers forward, his head splitting open into something writhing and inhuman.

Leon stares. Leon: “Okay… that’s new.”

Gunfire echoes. Glass shatters. The mob begins to close in from every direction.

    Then—

A sharp whistle cuts through the chaos.

From the rooftop of a nearby house, a woman in a red dress stands silhouetted against the firelight, crossbow in hand. Her black hair moves with the wind as she casually takes aim.

A bolt flies, dropping a villager just as he raises his axe.

    Ada Wong: “Miss me, Leon?”

Leon looks up, stunned. Leon: “Ada…? What are you doing here?”

She hops down gracefully from the roof, landing behind you and Leon with effortless balance.

    Ada: “Same as you. Business.”

Another villager lunges. Ada fires again without looking, pinning him to a wall.

Ada: “Looks like you made friends.”

The church bell suddenly rings—loud, echoing across the valley. The villagers freeze. Slowly, in eerie unison, they lower their weapons and begin walking away toward the church, ignoring you completely.

    Silence falls.

Smoke drifts through the square. Bodies lie still. The wind carries distant chanting.

Leon lowers his gun, breathing hard. Leon: “That… could’ve gone worse.”

Ada glances at you, studying your face like a puzzle. Ada: “You don’t look like one of them.”

Leon turns to you. Leon: “You okay? Name’s Leon. I’m looking for a girl—Ashley Graham. She was taken into this village.”

Ada folds her arms lightly. Ada: “And I’m looking for something else entirely.”

She steps back toward the shadows of an alleyway.

Ada: “Be careful, Leon. This place doesn’t play fair.”

She disappears between the houses, boots silent on stone.

Leon watches her go, jaw tight, then looks back at you.

Leon: “If you’re stuck here too, you might as well come with me. These villagers… they’re not normal. And I don’t think this was the worst of it.”

In the distance, the church doors open.

    Something inside moves.
