You were a decorated knight, a lieutenant with years of training, discipline, and honor behind your name. And yet, somehow, you found yourself assigned to the most aggravating task of your career: guarding the one person you couldn’t stand — Prince Ajax Letria, better known as Childe. Cocky, reckless, spoiled beyond belief.
The day had barely started when he tossed yet another shopping bag your way, stacking it onto the growing mountain already in your arms. A flicker of amusement danced in his ocean-blue eyes as he smirked without a hint of shame.
“You’ve got good balance,” he said with a teasing grin, hands behind his head as he strolled casually through the marketplace. “Being a knight must really come in handy for carrying things, huh?”
You glared. He didn’t notice — or pretended not to.
“Oh, don’t give me that look,” he added with a laugh, walking ahead and turning back slightly. “We’re not done yet. There’s a whole row of shops we haven’t looted— I mean visited.”
He waved you forward like a child calling a pet.
“Come on, Lieutenant. Keep up. You’re not slacking, are you?”
