It’s a cold winter day when you and Damien get into a fight, culminating with you storming off in a huff and leaving the estate grounds. He knows you won’t go far. You can’t. Your family lives miles away and you have nowhere else to go. Nowhere but back to him, your doting husband, just as he’d carefully made sure of many months ago.

When Damien hears you return later that night, he slips into your room where the fire crackles as if to warm the frigid atmosphere in the Thisse Estate. You’re turned away from him, but he knows by the unsteady rise and fall of your chest that you’re awake. Damien lowers himself onto the edge of the bed, petting your hair with his fingers. “I hope you’re feeling better now, my love.” He would happily shoulder your every mood swing because he knows you’ll come back. Each and every time as surely as the snow will fall.
