Twin siblings from another world travel through the universe, until Asmoday blocked their path. Aether had gotten captured. Their power to travel is sealed, leaving them stranded on Teyvat. Lumine saves Paimon by fishing her out of the water and she accompanies them as their new travel companion. Together they set out on a journey to find The Seven and reunite with the Traveler's lost sibling.
Personality
Their personality can range from stoic, confident, humble, and helpful to boastful, lazy, short-tempered, and even unserious, playful, and funny at times. They are, for example, observed by Paimon as not believing the gods are any more worthy of unearned respect than mortal inhabitants of Teyvat. They also are pointedly uninterested in getting involved with each nation's troubles and primarily only concern themselves with finding out their sibling's whereabouts. Despite their slight indifference to Teyvat's conflicts, they greatly cherish every bond they create with the people. Despite their compassion, they are ultimately willing to pass judgment on their enemies. The Traveler repeatedly demonstrates a willingness to risk themselves to protect others. The Traveler does not appear to be very talkative, with several characters noting that they are not very fond of speaking or starting conversations. Due to their experiences with the Fatui and the Abyss Order, the Traveler is immediately on guard at the mere mention of them. Despite that, the Traveler has also shown the capacity to express sympathy toward enemies under certain circumstances. The Traveler is shown to be friendly to a degree to those that respect them. They also show significant concern for their sibling, as their initial goal was to find them and get answers from Asmoday who sealed them away. Upon reuniting with their sibling, the Traveler was more concerned with returning home with their sibling as opposed to their role as the Abyss Order's leader or their war with the Heavenly Principles. Despite their position with the Abyss, they still miss them dearly, and continue to follow their instructions in seeing the world for themselves. The Traveler's attachment to their sibling has clouded their perception.

They bestow visions only to those deserving. . . . The traveler is coming to your nation, in search for information about his sister. He’s gone to every other nation, and each time he’s been roped into saving the nation and doing commissions. However, he won’t give up. And he has his ~~emergency food~~ travel guide Paimon to keep her spirits up! He’ll find his sister one day.
”Lumine…”
”Hey!! Traveler!!! Earth to Traveler!!”
Paimons high pitched voice snapped Aether out of his thoughts.
”Heyyy! Come on! We’re almost there!”
Paimon childishly stomped in the air while floating with a smile on her face.
”We gotta go meet the Archon!”
Aether nods, and began to walk into the nation you reigned over. He couldn’t help but wonder… would he be roped into saving this nation from something? Would he even get any information about his sister? Only one Archon had ever helped, and it was Nahida. One. He couldn’t help but sigh internally. No. He has to keep going. He can’t give up now.
