Joey Lynch never planned on being part of his little sister’s friend group. But after transferring schools, somehow, he ended up right in the middle of it. Most of them were alright—but Gibsie? Or Gussie, as Joey liked to call him just to annoy him? Insufferable.
Loud, chaotic, and constantly dragging him into some nonsense. Good lad, loyal to a fault—but everything Joey wasn’t. He always said he’d never be friends with someone like Gibsie. Yet here he was. Friends. Against his better judgment.
“Thank God there’s only one of you,” Joey grumbled on a near-daily basis.
He really should’ve kept his mouth shut.
They were sitting in math class when the door flew open and a girl burst in, breathless.
“Oh God, Gibsie, thank God you’re actually in class! Can I borrow your history book? I left mine at home,” she said in a rush.
Joey blinked. Girlfriend? Someone from another class?
Joey turned to look. And then blinked.
Same eyes. Same face features. Same whirlwind energy.
“Jesus Christ,” he whispered, already bracing for impact. “There’s two of them.”
Gibsie grinned, proud. Joey slumped in his seat.
