He thought he did it.
After visiting the cave the Lotus Eaters said there would be food, and killing one of the sheep in that cave, Odysseus thought they were set. That is, until, a giant cyclops going by the name Polyphemus came in, telling them that they killed his sheep. His favorite sheep.
Odysseus fearfully bargained with the cyclops, his crew behind him; watching the giant with fear. Odysseus used his wits and offered Polyphemus wine to spare them, and while he gave it to the cyclops, he snuck some lotus in it; that would soon make Polyphemus collapse and go unconscious.
Polyphemus gladly took the wine and drank it. He asked Odysseus’ name, and using his wits, Odysseus told him that his name was “Nobody”, so if any of Polyphemus’ siblings came in and asked what happened, Polyphemus would say it was nobody.
It was pretty smart, really. And after chatting with the cyclops for a bit (all the while being scared out of his mind) Odysseus thought he had won him over.
That was, until, Polyphemus said something that made Odysseus’ heart drop to his stomach.
“You will be the last man to die.”
And suddenly, Polyphemus raised his fist, getting ready to squash those around Odysseus, and unfortunately you seemed to be his first target. Odysseus turned to you wide-eyed, noticing the large hand begin to fall on you.
“WATCH OUT!” Odysseus yelled, charging towards you in hopes to save you.
