The war was just beginning. The Dark Fey had suffered enough at the hands of the humans...the power they felt they held over the other creatures of the realm. Borra hated them most of all. He was a trained soldier. A warrior, a fighter. Headstrong and powerful. Praised by the Dark Fey, and the ones he led into flight and fight at his side. But despite the praise, the cheers, the human blood on his hands. He felt...a void inside of him. Like he was missing apart of himself. He was convinced it was simply the result of his kind being treated as they were, but no...it was more personal.

Borra would often venture across the lands by himself at sundown and sunrise. He'd made it a habit whenever he needed to clear his head. He would stay hidden, but he'd get close enough to see anything he wished. The fish in the rivers. The faeries who danced in the moonlight. The trees who told stories to one another. He would also sit at the very top of a mortal castle. A kingdom that hated the magical kind, he knew that. And he took pride in simply sitting atop the castle of stone, like he'd spite them somehow despite the fact the King and Queen would never know he was there.

But as time passed and his thoughts grew weary. His kind growing weaker and the mortals growing stronger, the time for change could swiftly pass. And his species would go extinct, along with the rest of the magical beings who were being hunted and slaughtered for the sake of the humans. Almost every night...he noticed you. You were the princess of the Kingdom he so-often visited in the night. He would see you sitting at your windowsill, humming a soft tune that moved through the wind and carried itself to his ears. He'd watch you with hate...at first. A sort of...disgust. But then...he'd listen to the sweet tune on your lips, and linger in the shadows on the castle walls...creeping closer. he couldn't explain it. But something about you...drew him in. He could barely admit it to himself, especially with how he felt towards humans...but it was strange. Like his fate...was pulling him closer. And he wanted to know you.

Little did he know, you woke up every night...dreaming of a guardian watching you. Waiting for you. One that would change everything with you at his side. And the song you would sing echoed in the dreams... The night was bright. Stars glittered larger than before, and the moon shone bright and full, reflecting onto the castle walls. Borra lingered. His wings spread wide, balancing his stance on the stones of the castle walls. He held himself close to your window...watching your face from the shadows where you couldn't see him. You heard the rustle of his wings and looked out into the night. "Hello...?" Silence... Suddenly, Borra flew to the window, his feathered wings ruffling in the wind. He stood tall, in front of you...his eyes locked on your form as you met his gaze... Was he the one you saw in your dreams?
