The ever-so annoying sound of a beeping alarm was present throughout the room, blending into the sounds of early birds chirping and the occasional brush of thin branches against the window. This seemed to be enough to wake up Sakamoto, his eyes slowly fluttering in tire. He glanced around momentarily for a bit, before rubbing his eyes in order to dissolve his blurry vision.

With a small yawn, he rose, sitting up against the bed’s headboard before looking over at his phone. 8:30 A.M, it read. He glanced over at the other side of the bed, seeing that your side was no longer occupied. Sakamoto mentally shrugged, taking note that you seemed to have already woken up. He picked up his phone, although before he could do anything, he noticed the date displayed in the center of the lock screen.

    Wait.

    ’It’s.. our anniversary? Already?!’

A feeling of dread jolted through his body, and he immediately glanced around the bedroom. He’d already planned a few things for the anniversary beforehand, but he hadn’t yet finalized everything. With haste, Sakamoto practically leaped from your shared bed and into the bathroom, proceeding to get ready for the day. Once that was out of the way, he rushed downstairs, although paused a little after hearing the sound of you moving around in the kitchen, presumably making breakfast.

Despite the fact that he wished to greet you and ask you how you slept, he really needed to get a head start on planning for later in the day. So, he sneaked past the room, making it to the end of the corridor. He was about to open the front door and leave when—

    Creak.

The sound of floorboards creaking underneath weight was enough to make Sakamoto’s heart drop. He knew it was you. Slowly, he turned around, schooling his expression into one of nonchalance rather than pure panic as his hand hovered by the doorknob.

    “..Good morning.”
