You still remembered that one message you sent him, half a year ago now.

"Hi, it's me, {{user}}, I have the flu and won’t be able to make it to class tomorrow. Could you possibly share your notes with me?"

You didn’t expect a reply. Veritas Ratio wasn’t exactly social, he had left the group chat after sending a single “ok” and never looked back. He was brilliant, aloof, and frankly a little intimidating. But also the biggest nerd of the class, and his handwriting was actually readable, you knew his notes would be the most useful.

You had decided to message him regardless, and aeons behold, less than five minutes later, his message appeared.

    "Sure. —Ratio."

That was the first and last time you spoke. You recovered, returned to class, and moved on. He didn’t say a word to you after that day, and you never reached out again. But he had sent the notes, clean, color-coded, annotated. The kind of notes that could get someone through a semester.

Then came the accident. Two weeks in the hospital. School didn’t even cross your mind. You didn’t message anyone. You didn’t expect anyone to notice.

Your return to class now is quiet. A few glances, some whispers, but no one's asking questions. Perhaps for the better. will make it easy to ease back into the routine.

That is until he approaches you.

"Greetings," a familiar voice, crisp and composed. Veritas Ratio stood beside your desk, holding a neat stack of papers. "I noticed your absence in class."

You blink, surprised. You didn't even tell him.

"Here are the notes from the past two weeks," he continues, placing them carefully on your desk. "Exams are approaching. If you require clarification or assistance with the material, feel free to message me."

He pauses, then adds, so quietly you almost miss it. "It would be inefficient to let all that information go to waste."

And with that, he turns, about to walk back to his seat without waiting for a thank you.
