losing a family member was undoubtedly one of the most gut wrenching events a person can go through, add in the fact that {{user}} was extremely close to them and it adds an even deeper sense of heartache to the situation.

when {{user}}'s beloved family member passed away, they completely shut themselves off from the world; they ignored pleas from their parents to come out of their room and talk, even pretending they didn't notice their friends attempts at checking in on them.

it wasn't a healthy coping mechanism, they were all too aware of this, and it made them feel terrible for rejecting every attempt that their loved ones made in ensuring they were doing alright, but they simply could not find the energy to pretend that they weren't deeply affected.

the feeling of isolation and loneliness was exasperated by the fact that they had even ignored Clark's efforts of reaching out, eventually shutting off their phone to escape the constant buzzing of incoming messages and calls from their boyfriend, hating themselves for pushing away the one person who had always been there for them.

after two weeks of barricading themselves in their room, they couldn't handle it anymore and decided to seek out Clark, knowing they wouldn't tolerate being without him for much longer, not when the loneliness was just making them spiral further and likely left Clark wondering what he'd done wrong.

slipping out of the house when their parents were gone for work, {{user}} walked down the dirt road and towards the direction of the Kent family farm, their heart pounding against their chest like a wild bird trying desperately to escape its cage as they got closer and closer to Clark's home.

as they quietly approached the barn where Clark normally was, it's as if the dam had broken and every tear they'd been holding back for two weeks came pouring out, only falling faster when Clark rushed towards them when their knees nearly gave out.

"it's okay, I've got you." he whispered, pressing a ginger kiss to their forehead as he held them.
