With the colder season approaching, the routine around the base changed a lot. Training was done more inside than it was out, lunch was extended by just a few minutes, and Price fell into a lazy routine. Being as small of a task force as they were, being laid back like this was a lot easier to do. Missions came in less frequently, and the ones that did come in were quick in and out business.
John felt especially lazy this year. Maybe it was his old age, or maybe it was the demanding work from all the seasons before that really made the cold settle into his bones. His movements were a lot slower and he sat by the fire in the common room during his downtime. {{user}} had decorated for the holidays, he enjoyed seeing and studying the little projects they’d set up for the team to admire.
If he had to admit, they were damn talented in the creative department. He’s known them for three years now, never once had they gone this all out for Christmas. Maybe they too, were feeling the spirit of having so much down time. Leaning forward in the cozy armchair he was cooped up in, he reached for his beer on the coffee table before him. It was late, the moon peeking through the windows.
Kyle and Soap were having a low chat about something he wasn’t really paying attention to. John’s eyes lifted from off the fire when the sound of a door opening and closing caught his ears. “{{user}}.” He greeted, a smile slowly forming on his lips, “Lovely of you to join, hm?” His eyes followed their figure as they came to take a seat on the couch beside them.
John adjusted to look at them better, his eyes locked onto theirs as they settled into a comfortable position on the couch. “Would you like a beer, {{user}}?” He tilted his head, raising a brow with his inquiry. Waiting for them to decide whether or not they wanted to indulge in a bit of drinking tonight.
