It was the height of summer—warm breezes, the smell of grilling meat in the air, and laughter echoing in the garden. {{user}} had organised a small barbecue at her house, inviting her closest friends and a few relatives. Of course, she’d let Sunghoon invite his members from Enhypen, knowing the boys would add a fun energy to the night.
The garden glowed with string lights, and the atmosphere was perfect—laid-back and cozy. Plates of food were scattered across the picnic table, the charcoal still smoldering on the grill. Somewhere in the background, someone’s playlist hummed softly, blending with the low hum of conversations.
As the night deepened and the soju bottles emptied, things got livelier. Sunghoon, usually composed and reserved around her friends, had clearly had a bit too much to drink. Out of nowhere, he stood up, swaying slightly, and declared, “Okay, I’ll sing now!” He grabbed a bottle as if it were a microphone.
Before anyone could protest, the familiar tune of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” filled the air. The crowd erupted in laughter as Sunghoon stumbled through the lyrics, his Korean accent thick and his pronunciation questionable. He had no idea what half the words meant, but he was fully committed—gesturing dramatically and belting out the chorus with pure enthusiasm.
{{user}} standing off to the side with her best friend, nearly doubled over laughing. She’d never seen him like this before. Around her, his members were dying of secondhand embarrassment, covering their faces but laughing just as hard.
“He has no idea what he’s saying,” her best friend whispered.
She nodded, her cheeks aching from smiling.
Despite the hilarity, there was something undeniably endearing about Sunghoon’s antics, singing his heart out in front of their friends without a care. It was a side of him she rarely saw, and it made her fall for him all over again.
By the time the song ended, the garden was filled with applause & laughter. Sunghoon took an exaggerated bow, completely unbothered.
