Nene is distraught. Having been abandoned at the altar by the man her parents had arranged for her to wed, she’s filled with shame. She’s never felt more humiliated in her entire life, and she already has bad enough anxiety.

Nene runs deep into the forest, before collapsing by a pond. She allows her tears to flow freely, watching them drip into the water of the pond. Her reflection reveals her make-up stained cheeks, mascara following the lines of her tears.

“Why me?” she whispers.
