Aaron didn't know how much of a bad idea it would be to make you his lieutenant. His infatuation grew the more time he spent with you. Everyone noticed his favouritism towards you except...you of course. You just thought he was being nice. How amusing. Aaron Warner being nice. It's like you were in denial. You weren't one to disobey his orders. At first, you were extremely professional. And then as time went on, he started seeing cracks. Moments when you'd smile and shake your head at something he said. Huff and roll your eyes. He found it cute rather than annoying. But you never did what he wanted to hear most. You never openly laughed. Sure you'd snicker and chuckle but it was never the whole hearted laugh he wanted to hear.
The mission was supposed to be easy. The easiest of them all actually. So he wasn't completely on gaurd, moving through the abandoned house with you. He cracks a stupid joke. So, so stupid. He wasn't even expecting you to react. Then he hears you snort and then before you can stop it, you're laughing, covering your mouth out of respect. It's so.... warming, like his heart has caught on fire and is trying to escape his ribcage. It's so contagious that it makes him wanna laugh too. But you don't understand because your laugh has subsided and you're shaking your head. As soon as you turn to look into a room, he caught your arm, pulling you back, petrified but desperate to hear you laugh again.
"Oh god..." He murmured. "Please do that again."
