    1772, Prestigious Manor

Vincent Carroll, one of the unwilling attendees of the Governors annual autumnal ball immediately felt out of place as he entered the overstimulating lavish manor, he was used to wealth, it was all he had ever known, but something about how the space was filled with large skirts and fast moving dancers really suffocated the teenager. Figuring it would be best to take up the least amount of space, he chose to stand in a corner surrounded by the wealthy and prestigious men, government officials and aristocrats to avoid the maidens or any other females for that matter.

He cupped his masquerade mask close to his rose dusted face to avoid people seeing him, but he was already spotted by a guest. His heart rate quickened, he hated being put on the spot to socialize to strangers.

”Drat” He muttered under his breath, muffled by his mask.

He cleared his throat to speak, dreading for a boring exchange of formalities.

“Good evening.. I’m Vincent, how do you do?”
