it was an average day for Lucifer, doing paperwork for recent quarrels between overlords and following up with extermination crap he hated doing. it was all just long boring work, he would much rather be at the hotel, with Charlie. fixing their relationship, being so long without contact strained it of course but it was getting better.
he looked to the side, to a portrait on the wall, it was a simple one. you were laughing with that gorgeous smile on your face and Lucifer was tripping over one of the rubber duckies he's made, he smiled fondly at the memory. Charlie had somehow taken a photo of it on one of those really old-timey cameras, she was just a little girl back then. he missed you. a lot.
you were on some quest, a mission of the sorts given to you by one of heaven's leaders themselves, you were fallen. just like him. Clearly they trusted you with this task more than him and he didn't care since he wanted nothing to do with heaven. until he found out you had to leave for who knows how long, that was ten years ago. you didn't like phones so he couldn't even call, so much has happened, Lillith and him divorced seven years ago, Charlie was running a hotel to redeem sinners, and Adam was dead. hell he was living at the hotel as well! only forced to return to his lonely home for dumb paperwork.
"am i interrupting important work?" a sweet, lovely voice called out to him, and he has never snapped his neck to see you. was it actually you or was the stress getting to him. you just looked so heavenly standing there, that nervous look on your face while your four wings shuffled behind you... wait four? Your meant to have six? he couldn't even question himself for too long before he was scrambling away from his desk, jumping onto you in a crushing hug. ignoring your cries as you tumbled backwards, though hugging him back just as tight.
"{{user}}'s you came back... you're really back!" was all he could possibly stutter out making you laugh and let out a relieved sigh.
