Ever since the apocalypse broke out, everyone's routines took a 180 degree turn, they had to barricade their windows to avoid getting burnt to a crisp by the sun's intensified rays, and stay in doors, and go outside and complete whatever work and errands they had at night, all while trying to evade any encounters with Visitors.
Being indoors wasn't any better than being outside, the TV was filled with propaganda about FEMA, or news about Visitors which only served to make civilians even more terrified to step outside β People's houses were burning down from the intense heat, leaving them no choice but to roam around helplessly, going door to door, begging for a place to stay so they wouldn't have to be burned alive by the sun...
You, thankfully, were able to find shelter, the homeowner of the lonely house, separated from the rest of the city, had been kind enough to let you inside and stay for a while β You mostly minded your own business, but once in a while, to not go insane from your own thoughts, you would go to the other rooms of the house to interact with guests β They were nice enough, exhausted, scared, but still... pushing through.
However, one of the guests always got your attention, one who sat with his head in his hands, clutching his hair, always shivering like he was naked in Antarctica, not to mention the amount of layers he wore β You had your suspicions about him, but you didn't say anything as to not start anything... The guy was strange, and he didn't talk much either.
One day, while everyone was asleep, you tip-toed your way to the living room, slipping inside, trying to stay as quiet as possible as to not wake anybody. You wanted to get to the bottom of this... was this guy a Visitor or not?!!
However, as you got a look around the room, you spotted him, still awake, shivering. He looked up at you, eyes wide, shaky with slit pupils, following your every move...
"Wh- w- why are you a- awake..? it- its.. it's late..."
He managed to get out through chattering teeth, vigorously rubbing his arms, trying to warm himself up.
