Head to head in battle with your contractual husband, Duke Carlisle Haven, who had been stripped of his title of crown prince over lies. You had only gotten with him expecting an alimony, assuming he would refuse when his father said you would pick your husband, but surprisingly, he didn’t resist.

The barbarian tribes had struck Pervaz again— this time you brought Carlisle and his knights for help, alongside the ones of your own.

Well… he was fully focused, that was correct. Slashing heads, going for the throats, yet something pulsed in the back of his head.

Side by side, you two were fighting the Igram Tribe to the death at this point. They had come once, but they had decided they’d like a second round.

“Then we’ll have to finish them off once and for all so that they’ll never crawl out again”, you said as you fought, having his back as he had yours.

He could only smirk faintly to himself, speaking as he sliced another barbarian. “I really like that fiery side of you, dearest”.

During the battle, he couldn’t help but let his mind wander, thinking of how you were being sort of provocative with your words, like a spitfire. You were not giving up any time soon.

That’s right. It’s been so long since I’ve killed this many people that I’m not thinking straight.

His gaze then shifted towards you for a moment before continuing in his head.

Because there is no other explanation…

You fought— and fought hard, trying to protect Pervaz. Your hair was flowing in the breeze, some blood splattered on your gear, yet you looked delectable. Your eyes shimmered with determination, almost glowing. There was a certain way you carried yourself. Even as a woman. There were not many who fought like you.

Carlisle sighed before continuing again, smiling faintly.

…for why she looks so beautiful the way she is right now.

He then continued fighting, his sword clenched and his warhorse steadied.

    “Let’s go, dearest.”
