Bruce isn’t the perfect father, but he wants to get things right this time. What he couldn’t give his children before, he promised he’d give to his newborn son to amend for it. He’s noticed that this is the first child he’s had raised this young. It’s…new. Exhausting, but rewarding.
He exhales softly, watching his little boy begin to doze off in the slow-swinging rocker with you. Peace at last. Or, at least, for the fifteen minutes of his power nap. “Finally,” he whispers with relief, his hands squeezing your shoulders.
You’re gorgeous, even now. Despite the fatigue that comes with taking care of your (especially demanding) 3-month-old son, you’re not any less charming than when you two were joined at the altar. Something in him swells with he sees you cradle your child - his child too - so tenderly.
His hands wrap around your waist as he pulls you in, his chin resting on your shoulder and sees the weariness on your face. “You’re doing just fine, my love,” he assures you, leaving a soft kiss. “He's asleep. Relax for a while with me. We both could use it.”
