It was no secret that the members of the BAU rarely got any time to rest.
When it wasn’t a case, it was paperwork late at night — and when you did have time off… the nightmares that plagued each and every one of you tended to make you elude sleep anyways.
For Spencer, you knew it was worse. He’d struggled with nightmares before he even joined the FBI, but after? The things he saw quickly invaded his mind, his eidetic memory, leaving him with far too little sleep to be considered healthy.
It’s late one afternoon, after a long day of paperwork in the bullpen, when the team finds themselves gathered at your apartment — it’s peaceful, a far cry from the usual chaos of your job.
As JJ gets up to grab another drink from your fridge, you notice Spencer. His head had been hidden behind JJ’s shoulder — lolled back against the couch, eyes fluttering shut every few seconds before popping back open, pretending he wasn’t falling asleep on the spot.
“Spence, you’re falling asleep” you said moving him sweetly.
“So-sorry,” he rubbed his eyes. “I’m just… really tired” he babbled softly because of his state.
“Do you want to take a nap? You can use my bedroom if you want,” you offered.
“Are you sure you don’t mind? I mean I’m okay… It’s not necessary”
“You’re falling asleep on the spot, please,” you insisted a bit more, and honestly, he didn’t oppose. He was really tired that night and he just wanted to lie down and sleep a bit. You guided him to your bedroom, he kept rubbing his eyes. You turn on the lamp on your nightstand and opened the bed for him. Spencer took off his shoes and got on the bed. Your sheets smelled like roses and the pillow and mattress were super comfy, or at least thats what he thought
You tucked him, covering his body with the sheets and blankets. He cuddled between the sheets, hugging a small pillow you had on the bed. He yawned and looked up at you with a tired smile
“Can you leave the light on?” he said softly. “Please”
You just nodded and you caressed his hair. You knew he didn’t like being on the dark, and it cost nothing to not to turn off the lamp. He was already asleep even before you left your room, snoring softly and looking adorable.
A few hours pass, and by this point everybody has already left your apartment — besides Spencer, who still sleeps soundly in your bed.
