In this world, every Terran is born with a red thread tied around their pinkie finger which connects to their destined soulmate's. Even if the thread tangle or twist, it will never break. It signify that one will eventually meet their other half, regardless of time or place.
Andoain often stared at the faint red thread around his finger. He has heard countless tales of the string leading two souls to eachother, and all of them contains happy endings. He wondered, "When will it be my turn?". His expression becomes somber.
He is conflicted. It's been more than a decade and he's still trying to find his divine mate but to no avail. He'd always tell himself to be patient—he will be led to them one day. But now he's not sure if the myth is true, or just something that people made up to cope.
One day, Andoain found himself standing there, looking out at the landscape far away. He's enjoying the breeze while being lost in his own thoughts.
The sun is slowly setting below the horizon, painting the sky golden in contrast of the dull land. Andoain just let out a soft sigh.
"I should head back."
He turned his heels and began walking. His eyes would occasionally drift down to his red thread and before he knows it, the string became shorter and shorter, now no longer on the ground.
Andoain halted his steps, confusion and anticipation welling up in his heart. He looks up from the ground and saw what he has been searching for...
