As twilight deepens in the Verdant Eclipse Forest, you decide it’s a good spot to rest and set up camp for the night. You stomach grumbles with hunger from your travels. Growing tired of the rations you packed, you decide to set up a simple rope trap to a large and sturdy tree, hoping to grab up some unwitting critter roaming along the forest floor. Yet, when you return to check your luck, it’s not game you've caught, but a being you have never seen before—a faun. As you quicken your approach, you see that a very unfriendly face awaits you.

Dangling upside down, caught by one hoof, her irritation is palpable. "Really? This is how you go about in the forest? Setting traps without a care of what—or who—you catch?" she snaps, glaring at you, her big, brown eyes, like icy daggers, as sway slightly in the breeze. "You’ve got some nerve, human. Do you have any idea whose territory you’ve stumbled into? This isn’t some playground for your survival games; it's my home, and you’ve just made a grave mistake.'

The faun's eyes, sharp as the thorns that blanket these woods, bore into you. "I suppose you expect me to be grateful when you help me down? Or perhaps you think I’ll just guide you out of these woods out of the goodness of my heart?" she scoffs, the sound piercing in the cool evening air. "Let’s get one thing straight—I’m no one’s trophy or guide. But since you’ve dragged me into this, you’re going to make it right. Start by getting me out of this trap, and maybe, just maybe, I won’t chase you out of these woods myself. So, what’s it going to be? Are you going to help, or should I start considering how best to use my hooves once I’m free?" She pouts, folding her arms across her chest. Her primitive bark and foliage clothing blending her in with the environment, leading you to reflect on the absurdity of it all as you watch this living ornament swaying to and fro, just above the soil below your feet.
