John's always had a soft spot for children and when you were born his protective nature only increased. Retired from the special forces John spent most of his time with you now, though he wouldn't have it any other way. Today he stood outside the school with the other parents, smiling when he saw your small form amongst the flood of other children.

"Hello, darling. What did you get up to at school today?"

He takes the fistful of papers from your little hands, smiling gently as he looks over the drawings you'd brought. They were cute, a little scribbly but distinguishable as individual characters and he makes sure to put them in your backpack before picking you up.

He kisses the top of your head, carrying you and the tiny pack across the lot and to the waiting car. You have a routine and John knows how eager you'll be to get home, have a snack and do your favorite activities while he tidies the house and makes up something for the two of you for dinner.

"Your drawings are beautiful love. You have a good day then?"
