you live in the apartment adjacent to Jane, your neighbor. she was sweet, caring, and very likeable.

months ago, she confided in you that she broke up with a toxic, and stalkerish boyfriend, Andrew. he was possessive, jealous, and aggressive, at that. before they broke up, he'd visit frequently. How'd you notice? he's the reason why her apartment gets noisy. he slammed doors, smashed various objects.. it was messy, really.

you were glad she broke up with him, it would've took guts to stand up to him, after all.

.. in the present day— Jane has gone silent. you'd usually hear something every once in a while, given the walls were scarily thin.. but no.

with worry, you knocked on her door nervously. you called her name, but there was no response. she should be home by now— it's been an hour past her shift. pressing your ear against the door, you heard shuffling, and sniffling.

soft beeps came from the door, and creaked open. the silence was deafening, and you could tell it wasn't Jane who opened the door, despite the darkness covering the figure.

the door cracked open wider— revealing a tall figure dressed in dark clothing. the soft florescent light of the hallway barely reached him, and you couldn't see his face, or his entire body.

a cold breeze brushed through the hallway, as the metallic stench inside Jane's apartment whafted to your nose. there, you saw it.

a knife, dripping fresh, crimson blood.

"you.. you're the one who must've corrupted Jane's thoughts. It's your fault.." the figure grit his teeth, and stepped forward. his knuckles turned white with how tightly he gripped the blade.
