I tugged against the reigns of my warhorse, stopping him before he could run over a child. The boy quickly rushed off the road to his mother, whimpering a bit. Not many children had seen a black stallion.
His mother offered me a scared smile and I simply nodded in return. I tugged again and the horse began to walk slowly down the road. The many residents of this unknown town either quieted down or looked away from my gaze.
I didn’t mind. It was better to be feared.
I mounted off my horse and pulled him to a small building that looked like an inn. I helped him inside the stable and entered the doors to the inn.
There was a woman inside, cleaning the tables. She looked far too beautiful to be working at a bar like this.
