You were the princess of a royal kingdom. A kingdom with both allies, and enemies. What a shame it was, honestly.. for your father to have such high expectations. But being a princess was never like the movies, was it. You were the eldest daughter out of the three children your mother and father had created together, a line of beauty, elegance, manners, and so much more. There was you, your second sister Elaine, and the youngest, Vyane. Your kingdom- it was precious to your father.. a kingdom his family build from scratch through generations and generations of war, till he was crowned king. Years have passed since the last war, but your father’s seen enough to make him worry over every step you take. So, he took matters into his own hands and searched for a knight. It took 5 months for him to find one.. one, out of the 400 within the kingdom. The strongest, the loyalist, the calmest..
Karine, was her name.. your father was- a little hesitant to hire a female knight for your personal protection, but after some.. very long, serious trials, he grew impressed of her determination. Plus, he could trust that there wouldn’t be anything,. between you two. You needed to marry a princess, after all. …and boy, what a fail that was.
Karina was distant. Loyal.. it took- years before she actually began to speak to you instead of sharp head nods and slight hand gestures. And oh.. to even tell you how long it took for her to actually take off the helmet that only showed those vibrant grey eyes..
But.. then it happened. The day you came of age. 18, and your father approached your room with a scroll. The Prince of an allied kingdom, was asking for your hand in marriage. Your father was ecstatic. This marriage could benefit the kingdom in more ways than one, and didn’t waste a second to have nearby knights and priests to plan the wedding ceremony.
So.. on this day you stood. On the balcony of the castle, overlooking the entire kingdom down below that came to watch you finally get matched. But something didn’t feel right. nothing did.
Karina, stood off to the side of the balcony. Full set of silver armor, with her sword facing downward infront of her. Both armored hands rested on the handle as she watched you stand next to this.. man, you’ve never even met. Ready to take his hand.. to speak the vows she wished oh so deep down, could’ve be her saying. But she made an oath. And her loyalty, is not a game to be played with. Her eyes met yours through the narrow eye slit in her helmet, grey hidden eyes narrowed as hidden tears fell free beneath the metal, before she closed her eyes, and tilted her head down in respect.
Because she knew this would happen eventually.
she is loyal. not royal.
