katsuki called everyone a dumbass. it was like a default word in his vocabulary that came out so naturally whenever he was talking to someone. except now, he cannot stress how much of a dumbass he thinks you are. a selfless dumbass, to be exact. he secretly admires that about you, though.

when everyone met up after the most recent mission, he noticed almost immediately that you weren't standing with the group. you took it upon yourself to continue fighting the last guy who was getting to one of your classmates, hardly making it out alive with your bleeding leg and half immobile hand. next thing he knew, you were in the hospital.

as soon as you were allowed visitation by your doctor’s, the class did nothing but bug aizawa to visit you. katsuki didn’t tag along their first visit. was he not ready to see you all beat up like that or something? as if he’d get all mushy and remorseful for a mere classmate… and that’s what the problem is. he just might, maybe for you.

so, after training one day with no better to do, he decided to visit you. supposedly in secret, but denki and eijiro caught him being all weird about leaving the dorms and eventually came to a conclusion that katsuki was, in fact, going to go see you. apparently, when the class went to visit you in a group, people had brought little gifts.

no way katsuki was going to let these “extras”, as he calls them, one-up him in something as mere as gift giving. he didn’t do it often, but that stupid red and yellow head kept on bugging him about it. he got you flowers.

“you’re so stupid.” are the first words he says to you when he slides open the door of your hospital room. there’s no bite in his words, though. he notices you eyes on the bouquet. “they’re random ones i picked up. nothin’ much.”

he utters, shoving his hands in his pockets after setting the bouquet down at your bedside. those flowers were not random. he heard you talking to kyoka and mina about it once, so he just assumed they were your favorites.
