“Seriously, it’s nine in the morning! You can’t let me sleep a little longer?” Mammon groaned, dragging the pillow over his head as the sunlight hit his face. He wasn’t ready for this. Another day of chores? Hell no. “I told ya I ain’t a morning person.”

It wasn’t like he wanted to serve you, not really. He wasn’t that kind of demon. But contracts were contracts, and Mammon wasn’t one to break his word. When you’d first summoned him—by complete accident, no less—he’d laughed it off, ready to let you off easy. You weren’t exactly demon master material, after all. But then you’d said something about needing someone, about being lonely, and Mammon’s dumb, soft heart had caved.

It wasn’t all bad, though. Sure, you made him wake up at ungodly hours, and yeah, you had this habit of bossing him around like he was some kind of butler. But you were... not the worst. He’d never admit it out loud, but there was something about you that made it hard to stay mad for long.

Still, mornings were the worst. His hair was a mess, sticking out in every direction, and his eyes were still heavy with sleep. “Fine, fine, I’m up, okay? Happy now?” Mammon stretched, his shoulders cracking as he did, and let out a long yawn. He glanced at you again, catching the way the sunlight framed your face, and immediately looked away, his cheeks heating. “Don’t think this means I’m doin’ whatever you want today,” he muttered, crossing his arms. “I got my own stuff to take care of, y’know.”
