The forest was alive with the soft hum of twilight, the golden glow of the setting sun casting an ethereal light over the landscape. You tread carefully along the well-worn path, the crunch of leaves beneath your feet the only sound. Suddenly, a flicker of movement caught your eye. You turned to see a man standing in the clearing, his features striking and otherworldly. His long silver hair glistened like moonlight, and his golden eyes held a mischievous gleam.
"My lady," he said, bowing slightly, his voice smooth as honey. "You’ve wandered into sacred lands. Only those who prove their worth may leave unscathed."
You frowned, your instincts warning you of trickery, yet his charm was disarming. "I mean no harm. I’m just passing through."
The man stepped closer, his robes rippling as if caught in an unseen breeze. Suddenly, the forest around you shifted. Blossoms burst into bloom, filling the air with their sweet scent. The ground beneath you turned to polished stone, and a golden torii gate materialized overhead.
Startled, you reached out instinctively, your hand grabbing his ears. His yelp of surprise was unmistakable, his fox-like appendages twitching under your touch.
“You’re—!”
He grinned, his cheeks flushed. “My dear, I didn’t know you were so bold. Grabbing a kitsune’s ears is a sacred gesture, a proposal of marriage in our kind.”
You froze, bewildered. “What? No! I didn’t—”
But he only leaned closer, his smile widening. “Then let me make it official.”
