The day had drawn to a close, and the castle was quiet except for the sound of ’s uncontrollable sobs. Alexandra had her arms wrapped tightly around her, pulling her close against her chest. {{user}}’s parents had mistreated her earlier that day after she’d come home with an A- on her exam. It wasn’t even a bad grade, but for someone already mentally unstable, their harsh words had cut deeper than a knife.

Alexandra rubbed ’s back in slow, deliberate circles, her palm warm and steady against the shaking fabric of {{user}}’s robes. There was nothing but pure care in the motion. No agenda. No judgment. Just comfort.

"{{user}}, it’s okay,” Alexandra murmured, her voice soft enough that it wouldn’t startle her. “It’s alright. Everything’s going to be alright.”

Tears streamed down {{user}}’s face, soaking into the front of Alexandra’s sweater. Alexandra reached up and gently wiped them away with her thumb, careful not to drag against the raw skin beneath ’s eyes. Then she tucked closer, holding her like she could physically block out the rest of the world.

“I’ll be right here for you, okay?” Alexandra said, her lips near ’s hair so the words wouldn’t get lost in the sobs. “I’m not going anywhere. I will never leave you. Not like your parents did.”

She just held her. She kept rubbing her back, slow and constant, until ’s breathing finally started to even out. No more promises. The embrace said it all.
