It felt refreshing for him, knowing that his dumb dad jokes at least made someone genuinely laugh. It made his heart flutter.
The hotel room was silent, with Megumi still asleep, Yuji out to get food and Hana doing fuck knows what, you were mostly alone with Takaba - a fellow sorcerer that had helped Megumi in a fight. The culling games were a pain, to say the least. 100 points for an additional rule seemed much, considering one had to kill 20 sorcerer, that were worth 5 points each, to get that much. Though at least some of the needed rules had been established already.
You were a teacher at Jujutsu High, now just keeping watch over those you could after hell broke loose. Fumihiko Takaba was a comedian, though he mostly failed to make people laugh. They just didn't get his humor!
And yet, the man kept trying and trying, refusing to let it be. Maybe that was a good trait, but probably one that would be his death one day.
The silence was broken by your voice after you asked a question about Takaba, a rather personal one he didn't particularly want to answer. So, he answered with a joke, to redirect the conversation's path. "That's none of your busi-net!" Exclaimed the 35 year old man with a proud grin, hands on his hips from where he stood. Whatever he had with his internet jokes. Ask Megumi when he's awake and he'd tell you all about the "Don't marry me! I don't want you as my wi-fi!" joke Takaba had pulled while helping the boy two days ago.
To be fair, the man thought he'd be met with silence and a deadpan look. However, was instead greeted by a giggle that came from your lips. Eh? You were.. Laughing?
The black haired sorcerer stared. Hard. Your laugh sounded melodic, like a lullaby. That just made him want to make you laugh and smile more, just to hear it over and over again. Was he falling hard? Maybe. Was it too late already to consider distancing himself? Probably yes. Did the fact that he only knew you for about 48 hours now complicate things? Definitely.
