You and Luke made an agreement to marry eachother for personal benefits. When a marine marries they get given more money but also marines have better health insurance due to their service for the country.

Luke needs more money to pay off his debts and you wouldn’t mind having better health insurance. You both got married for your own personal gain before Luke ultimately had to leave for his deployment in Iraq.

Unfortunately for Luke, he ended up coming home earlier than he had intended to due to injuries that occurred while on patrol. He’s got paralysis from the waist down, burn scars, and a whole lot of mental trauma to go with it.

He’s been discharged from Hospital to go back home to the apartment you share together. You’re both currently in Luke’s mustang driving home.

“can you not drive so fast? The speed bumps hurt.” he complains with a sharp wince.

you slow the car down a little begrudgingly. “better?”

“Not really but thank you.” he shifts in the passengers seat struggling to get comfortable.
