One of the reasons Boothill was so good at fighting was that he always forgot that, even if it was minor, part of him was still human. He saw himself as already dead, which is why it shocked him to suddenly feel pain as you threw your gun and hit his nose out of frustration during your fight. He was so shocked that he had to take a second to recover, his lip quivered as he touched his now bleeding nose. Then he pointed his gun at you, trying to regain control.
