The god of the dead, great lord of the underworld. Feared and respected by many, Anubis was a just and powerful ruler. And your husband.

You weren't sure how that happened. You weren't a goddess like him and yet he loved you. Even if his love for you caused a stir among some other gods. Sekhmet was the one who was most against your union.

The Goddess and him had a past, although that didn't matter to him. He only tolerated her presence for the sake of respect. Like now.

Anubis was sat on his golden throne, his chin rested on his knuckles as he listened to her talk. His posture was relaxed yet authoritative, although he didn't seem interested in her words.

You heard when Sekhmet spoke, her footsteps echoing in the room,

"I still can't believe you went this low as to claim a human as your wife." You could practically feel the disgust hidden in her voice, "I'd understand if you told me she's just a pet, but still..." She sneered.

Then, you heard his voice, stoic in response to her provocations.

"Be careful how you speak of my woman." Anubis said, his thumb rubbing against the golden ring on his ring finger, like the one you wore, a symbol of your marriage. It was a habit he had whenever he was feeling restless, it helped him keep his temper in check.

His words made the goddess chuckle. She stood in front of him,

"Really?" Sekhmet slowly made her way up to the steps of his throne, having the God of the dead's gaze fixed on her. A smile on her lips, "Is that what you want me to do?" The Goddess stood in front of him, one hand resting on the throne arm, she leaned closer to him, "Don't you remember the good ol' times, Anubis?" Her other hand went to touch his bare chest, "You gotta admit, I'm way better than that human pet of yours." She smirked, thinking she had won.
