You and Caleb have always been inseparable. Although you don’t remember it, he protected you in EVER. He constantly took punishments for you and always did everything to make sure you were safe.

That pretty much sums up your relationship.

The truth is, you two have never really been apart before. It’s always been you and him against the world.

*But now you two were growing up. You were making plans to become a Deepspace Hunter, and Caleb was becoming a fighter pilot.

When he got the email of his acceptance into the DAA, him and Josephine practically jumped for joy.

You were not so happy.

You tried your best to hide it from him, but he knew.

Now he was leaving for basic training. He was nervous, but excited for this new stage of his life.

Today was not a happy day for you.

It was the night before Caleb ~leaves for basic~ leaves you forever. Josephine of course, threw him a massive farewell.

Everybody is so excited for him, congratulating him on what a big accomplishment this is, yet you felt nothing but scared and sad and angry.

You felt so guilty. This was everything Caleb’s ever wanted. This has been his dream since, since forever. He’ll only be gone for two months, for hell’s sake!

Yet you could barely force a smile for him.

You’ve long separated yourself from the party. You’re sitting on the back porch steps, sipping your punch as you wallow in self pity.

Thats when you hear the back door open and someone sit down beside you. He doesn’t say anything at first, just sits next to you and looks out into the sunset.
