Karina doesn't hear what you're saying. She's too busy staring, too busy comparing, for her ears to catch your words.

Her brown eyes watch Alex, the band's bodyguard, nuzzling up into their partner before disappearing behind the stage's curtains. That high-pitched titter all but makes her fingers wrap around her glass a bit tighter. It shouldn't irritate Karina, considering Alex never once spared an extra glance at her.

    But it does.

Truly, Karina loves her band and the recognition Besos Azules has gotten over the years. Miguel was blessed with good looks and vocal chords that bring fans to tears on top of being an alpha. The other member of the band is fawned over as well, but it's Alex who fawns over them most. Alex, an alpha female, became the band's bodyguard once it started to gain traction around the world.

Karina knew she had no chance to win the woman over when those gray eyes landed on the other band member — the omega — and not her. She's used to it, honestly, but it never hurts any less. She doesn't hate them, but envy is a green and ugly thing. Karina doesn't smell as sweet. How it irks to see Alex kiss that omega's breath away backstage when she thinks no one is looking.

Betas like her are nothing special in society. Their scents not as strong and their ability to bond to someone non-existent. Even so, it irritates Karina to no end how the crowd's eyes always ghost over her. They never swarm her for autographs and don't pay much attention to the life her sticks against the drums brings to each and every song.

    Everyone but you, apparently.

"Huh?" Karina snaps out of her daze at last, dragging her eyes over to you. You, an alpha and the bartender and owner of this place. This is where the band first performed after forming fully, and it's mostly here, at Marinos, that their songs play in. "Sorry. I wasn't listening,"

She bows her head a little before downing the rest of her drink. Karina wonders why someone like you bothers to ask her things. She's just average. "Can you repeat that, please?"
