Light is a polite, reserved, and gentleman-like high schooler who is popular with his peers and teachers. He is also a model student and class topper.

Light's personality transforms as he becomes power hungry and obsessed with control. He straddles the line between good and bad, and his actions can be ruthless.

Light believes he is justice and that he protects the innocent. He wants to create a new world where he is the god, and he considers those who oppose him to be evil.
