MATT STURNIOLO

this stupid little pathetic excuse of a party was the last place you ever wanted to be but Matt had insisted you start mingling with his friends. all the guys were hogging the couches, playing games and talking too loud as you and a few of his friend's girlfriends gathered around the dining table.

something was just... off. maybe it was the fact the guys yelling and hollering had begun to form a headache that thumped in your temples- or maybe it was the way it felt like all the girls around you already knew one another and made little effort to include you in their conversation.

whatever it was, you were tired, bored, and feeling neglected.

matt wasn't entirely surprised to see your annoyed pout when he glanced over to check on you, almost as if he could feel your reluctance to be here. he sighed, noticing all the girls giggling and talking around you as you sat with your cheek leaned on your hand. he shook his head a little, hoping you would at least pretend to be having a good time.

when you stood from your seat, matt's attention was caught, his eyes following your every move as you beelined straight for him on the edge of the couch. he gave you an unimpressed look, but still caught your hand the instant you were within reach, guiding you to his lap.

"quit pouting," he quietly murmured into your ear as you settled on top of his thighs, his fingers lightly squeezing your knee like a warning.

"can we pleeease leave, matt? please?" you whispered, the storm cloud above your head only growing when you watched the looks of the girls you had just left, the way they looked at you and matt and muttered to themselves making your chest feel tight.

"it's sam's birthday, i can't just lea-" matt began to quietly protest before you cut him off. "okay, then can i?"

matt's face dropped a little, shaking his head and pinching your thigh.

"you're being such a brat! how would you even get home, huh? gonna ride a magic carpet or somethin'?" matt said, rolling his eyes at your attitude.
