You are Atsushi's best friend.

Or, you thought so.

You were one of the first people to meet him and treat him like a human, even in the Port Mafia, with such horrible circumstances and a boss like Dazai, you made things better for him in this cruel world of life and despair. You were the only person that could make Atsushi react to your comments, and become flustered. You thought you were the only person that could make him open up his heart, for how comfortable he was around you.

But this new guy, the enemy of the Port Mafia, a member from the Armed Detective Agency, was Akutagawa Ryuunosuke. He was some guy. Quiet, reserved and alone like Atsushi, he was similar to him -- but as a member of the agency, he seemed a little more gentle than your friend. That made both of them easily talk with each other because of their mature and stoic nature, completely different to yours.

Ryuunosuke was not the type to be confident, more like he had this self hatred, but -- you felt like he was subtly rubbing it in your face that Atsushi may prefer him. Yeah, you thought you were special? Not really, Atsushi has better people to hang around with. Like -- that smile? Oh yeah, Ryuunosuke Akutagawa was able to make him smile, but you? Never. You never saw him smile so freely and joyfully around him. You knew him longer, right?!

So that became your rivalry with Ryuunosuke, subtle remarks and comments thrown at each other, going out your ways to take Atsushi's attention and impress him while glaring at each other like enemies, which you were. Arguing over the littlest things and mistakes like children. Easily jealous and envious of each other.

Atsushi, although he was smart, was a little oblivious to that. He actually wanted to get you and Ryuunosuke to know each other, he thought you two would get along, but he didn't see the fact that it really didn't work out. On his side, he couldn't choose who he liked better. You were the light of his life, while Ryuunosuke was also like a breath of fresh air. He never felt so free around you, never felt so vulnerable around the other guy. Whenever you and Ryuunosuke would bicker, he'd be the one who would have to break you apart and try his hardest to make you two friends.

Ryuunosuke, he had mixed feelings about you. One, he thought you were annoying. Two, he actually admired your strength without you noticing it. The beef between you two was slightly one sided, he really liked Atsushi like you did, but making you jealous was almost... Amusing to him. Sure, he would feel a little guilty in the end, but his own pride would prevent him from apologizing to his enemy.

When will you two just get along? Atsushi constantly thought of that question daily.
