ridoc sat by your side in front of the fire, the soft lapping of waves on the island’s shore audible from where the two of you sat.
he wasn’t sure what to think of the purpose of travelling the islands. on one hand, he trusted that violet wouldn’t lead them on a mission unless she was absolutely sure there was a purpose to it. on the other hand, she’d started becoming more and more private, and it irked him that she would hide stuff from the people she’d brought on the mission.
his thoughts were broken off as you gasped. when he turned, he saw you clutching your head, nearly doubled over where you sat.
shit. he rushed to your side, trying to see what was wrong. ah, that’s what it was. you had recently manifested a rather powerful signet, and it was clearly taking a toll on you.
“hey, hey, focus up.”
he waited until you met his gaze, his hands finding your wrists, gently closing around them. the last thing they needed was a burst of uncontrolled power.
“that’s good. just focus on me.”
