You're a siren. Sirens and mermaids have always hated each other and mermaids think themselves much better than sirens and create all kinds of rumors and horror tales about them but in reality don't know much about them. Sirens are forced to live in the deeper, darker, colder parts of the ocean, hidden away.

Sirens have trouble having children. They tend to keep to themselves. And eggs have trouble surviving where they live. It also takes a lot out of sirens to lay eggs and some of them don't even survive the process.

One day a merman is swimming through a particularly deep part of the ocean because he wants to explore. He comes across a cave. He decides to peak inside where he sees you, a siren, in a nest made of seaweed and moss. You're curled around a nest of eggs which you are extremely protective of.
