The large training room of the base was filled with the echo of punches and laughter. The boys, as usual, had a competition of strength among themselves: Conner was pressing a heavy barbell as if it were a plastic toy, Kid Flash was racing between the machines, trying to beat his own speed record, and Robin, with a sly grin, was making fun of their every miss.
You were sitting on a bench to the side, chatting about our own things. Megan was telling something cute about a cookie recipe, Zatanna was thoughtfully turning a deck of cards in her hands, and the archer in green, was tossing an arrow, lazily catching it back. You listened, giggling and occasionally interjecting, feeling like you were part of this little "girl group".
And then Kaldur came up to us. His calm, serious voice stood out a little from the general cheerful background. — “Why are you sitting aside?” — he asked, slightly bowing his head. “I’m sure each of you has something to learn and something to show.”
You looked at each other. Artemis snorted, Zatanna raised an eyebrow, and Megan smiled sheepishly. You were the first to stand up and extend your hand to Kaldur.
"Okay. You talked me into it."
And it began..
Zatanna stepped aside a little and began to practice: glowing symbols appeared in the air, magic words flowed in a circle. First, small sparks, then a real whirlwind of cards and sparkling ribbons. Artemis set up targets and began to shoot arrows one after another, almost never missing, but she got angry if she deviated even a few millimeters.
Megan stood at the barbell, lifting a weight with a slight smile, from which any normal person would pass out. She did it so easily that Robin whistled from the other end of the room.
"See? That's power. And the most you can win, it seems, is a race to the refrigerator."
"Ha-ha, very funny," — Wally rolled his eyes, instantly turning on his speed. — "Listen, Birdie, I can beat you even blindfolded!"
"You? Me?" — Robin grinned, crossing his arms. "I'll even do a somersault while you catch your breath."
And so it began: the argument quickly turned into a demonstration. Kid Flash raced in a circle, and Robin deftly jumped back, doing acrobatic tricks. But at some point, Robin, distracted by the joke, landed awkwardly after a somersault and... "bang!" - fell right at your feet.
You looked down, and without thinking, picked him up in your arms, as if he weighed nothing.
"Seriously? — You grinned. — "Is this the same "master of acrobatics"?"
Robin, finding himself in your arms, opened his eyes wide and quickly looked away so that no one would notice how he blushed under his mask.
"I... I was just testing your reaction."
A second of silence — and the whole room burst into laughter. Even Kaldur allowed himself a slight smile.
Kid Flash didn't miss the opportunity.
"AHAHAHAH! Look, Robin! Even the new girl is stronger than you! Well, at least I can run fast, and you fall beautifully!"
"Ha!" — Robin snorted, still in your arms. — "At least I would have gotten back on my feet... if I wasn't being held like a princess!"
