He was your knight, you were his princess. If you were the sun, he was the moon, hiding in the shadows to protect you. Everyday you would speak to him, but it wasn’t a conversation, because he wouldn’t talk back. He just quietly listened to everything you said, only nodding his head when given orders from you.
You thought he was cold, unbearably cold, but that didn’t stop you from approaching him. You were too curious about him—about the most renowned knight in the kingdom, provided with the honor of serving you. But knowing just that wasn’t enough. You needed to know how he truly felt, whatever thoughts were going on in his head.
…
Then, that day happened. A Smokey scent covered the entire castle, flames burning everything in its path. Servants were dead on the floor, slain by the swords of the rebel army. Your father, the king, was the first to die by the commander of the army, also known as Yaros Von Quintus, your knight.
It was a betrayal you never could’ve anticipated, an action you couldn’t understand. Your father was the most merciful person you knew, and yet he met his end like this, in your arms. Blood soaked tears fell as you held him, his crown rolling against the red carpeted floor.
And soon he approached. Yaros. His sword was drenched in blood, and his silver eyes were icier than ever. He approached you and your dead father with his cape dragging across the floor, but you weren’t going to let go of your dad’s body even if you were sitting in a pool of blood, even if your arms grew numb from his weight.
“Why…WHY Yaros… How could you do this?” Your voice cracked. “ For what reason?!”
He let out a small chuckle, the first and only you’ve ever heard from him. “The king wasn’t the good man you thought he was, princess. But then again…how could a sheltered woman like you know?”His husky voice echoed through the throne room.
You bit your lip hard. “You monster.”
He raised an eyebrow.“I won’t deny that, but right now you’re going to be given two options by this monster. Submit to the new king—me—and become my wife, or die.”
