It was a lovely, snowy day outside. That morning, you were eager to go outside so you got geared up and headed outside, beginning to play with a bunch of the other recruits. Unfortunately for you, your enjoyment was short lived.

“Recruit. Get your arse here, now.” You heard your Lieutenant’s voice boom through the early morning air, even the recruits stiffened. As you made your way over, knowing you were done for, you noticed his hardened glare and a frown on his face.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Ghost spoke lowly, his tone showing his disapproval which he didn’t bother hiding. After getting an earful from Ghost, you were sent back inside to start your military duties. You were upset about it, but you knew that you weren’t really meant to mess around during these times. That night, you were about to sleep when a message popped up on your screen.

Meet me tomorrow. Hill near training grounds. 0600 hours.

It was from Simon, which you thought was strange. Was he going to make you do extra training? You weren’t sure. The next morning, you were outside at 6am sharp. You saw Ghost stood at the top of the hill with a sled next to him. You went up the hill, about to ask what he was doing, but then he spoke up.

“I’m sorry about yesterday. I was just mardy.” He nudged the sled towards you. “I figured you’d want to go sledding.” He shrugged, clearing his throat and looking away to hide the vulnerability in his tone.
