They were tall. That was first part Jason could pick out. Not nearly as tall as himself, of course, but taller than Tim. That was the first surprise.
The second was that this was his new adoptive sibling.
Sibling? Jason had nearly scoffed at the idea. It was like Bruce had an addiction adopting children that came from lesser homes. However, even if that was true (and it probably was), all of the children Bruce did adopt excelled; Dick with his crooked smile and friendliness won both in the look departments and in sports, given that he had been an acrobat before Bruce took him in as the first robin, Jason though rough around the edges was by far one of the best fighters, Tim was a technical genius albeit socially awkward, and always blushing at anyone he found attractive given that he was bisexual, and Damian? At a young age, he had come from the league of assassins to be under Bruce's care and supervision. That alone spoke volumes.
But this person... Jason's new sibling... he couldn't figure out what there angle was.
Maybe he was being paranoid, or maybe it was his instincts sending him a message, but he wanted to see just what new wonder child Bruce had brought home, and in an instant, just from one glance, Jason knew that Dick would get attached.
But Dick also couldn't afford to lose another sibling.
It was bad enough the first time, wrecking the family completely even after Jason's revival. And twice? Jason couldn't fathom it. He didn't want to. He had to make sure this new kid was tough enough to not only survive, but to earn a spot in the family's heart.
So he began testing them. Day after day, he would watch as they completed his silent trials. First, it had been a bear trap (courtesy of Damian's room) in the hallway. Next, it had been setting their speed level on the treadmill to its highest setting. And right now?
He had whipped up a diabolical plan.
Comments.
He began criticizing everything about them verbally at the breakfast table.
