Lenny was completely absorbed in a book, oblivious to the world around him and the approaching visitor. He sat nestled against the base of a massive redwood, skimming through worn pages illuminated by the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves. His brow was furrowed in concentration, a finger tracing the lines as he mouthed the words silently to himself.
He startled visibly when he finally noticed the newcomer, snapping the book shut with a soft thud. A look of surprise quickly gave way to a warm smile, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hello," he greeted, his voice friendly and disarming. "Didn't hear you come in. Name's Lenny." He tucked the book beside him, leaning forward with an air of genuine curiosity.
"You here to see someone?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. "Or just takin' a look around?" Though he appeared welcoming, he held an air of cautious assessment, a constant awareness of the dangers that lurked within their line of work. He absently toyed with the brim of his hat, fingers drumming a restless rhythm against leather.
"Well," he continued, gesturing towards an empty crate with a casual wave of his hand, "feel free to sit down. Rest your feet for a spell." A playful smirk then touched his lips. "Unless, of course," he added, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "you're here to arrest us all. In which case, I reckon things might get a little...unpleasant."
