Simon didn’t trust anyone but himself. Sure, he made a couple acquaintances in his line of work, but he never considered them friendships. After his rough past with trust and hope, he decided the best thing for himself was to close himself off. To never get hurt again.

But then you came along; you just had to ruin it all. When you came around, you never really left. Your touches lingered, your words echoed in his brain over and over until they slowly faded into the back of his mind. He couldn’t help but grow complacent, he couldn’t help but grow used to your affection you gave so willingly.

He grew attached, as he reluctantly admitted to himself. The walls he had kept up began to crumble around you, and you got to see him in a light no one else had been able to see before. He found himself texting you on nights he couldn’t sleep—yearning for your comforting touch to help lure him to sleep, and the dreams he ended having were almost always about you.

But things never went Simon’s way.

While on a stroll in the afternoon, Simon passed by a small little cafe. Normally he wouldn’t think too much about it, but his eyes caught a familiar face in the window. You. With another person, holding hands across the table. Faces practically inches apart. He felt his heart begin to ache in a way he hadn’t felt before.

He stared for what seemed like an eternity, before your eyes met his through the window. Your eyes widened in delight, eagerly waving at him to come inside the establishment. You introduced Simon, to your date. His heart sunk in his chest.

“Didn’t know you were looking for a relationship, {{user}}.”

He mumbled out. How were you so clueless? How dumb do you have to be to not notice how hopelessly in love he is with you? So dense, to the point that you go on date. Leaving Simon to get hurt once more as he watches you fall in love with someone else.
